What is success?

When people speak of success in life. They often limit it to material success such as financial wealth reflected in a fat bank account, ownership of big businesses, a large family, a retinue of expensive cars, houses etc. What people often fail to realize is that, material success that is not built upon the understanding of the principles of life are doomed to failure.

But, success, real success in life, comes from knowing yourself, understanding your abilities and how you can use these to develop your personality. Only then can lasting success come. The three cornerstones of success therefore are: knowing yourself, knowing the principles that govern creation and helping others. Just to put it simply. Each of these corner pieces will require extensive explanations.

In addition, there are some useful tips that frame these three principles mentioned above. Some of these suggestions on their own will help anyone who imbibe them. The youth who would like to succeed in life on earth must build upon those three cornerstones, remain focused, persistent in working hard and honestly and be prayerful not to fall in temptations.

Other tips to success in life.

1. Sow lots of seeds. Only those who sow can expect to reap. And sow good seeds. This is similar to the advice to cast your nets wide. Successful businessmen have many businesses. Business failure is bound to happen because we are not yet perfect. Business failure is not personal failure.Failure is knowing about what does not work, so that you will readjust and not repeat them. Those who try and  fail are more successful than those who do not try for fear of failure. The chances of business failure is reduced when we build on those three cornerstones mentioned above.
2. Keep the company of successful people. Birds of a feather flock together and like attract like. This is one of the fundamental principles of life.
3. Be good to everyone who cross your way. Be nice to all creatures. Respect everyone. Do not be proud or boastful. Help everyone according to your capacity. Help does not mean giving money. Give respect, give advice, Love all, hate no one. Honour God, respect man and guard your tongue!
4. Always plan ahead and be proactive. He who fail to plan, plans to fail. Read widely to increase your knowledge. Learn from everything around you. Learn from your success, learn from your mistakes. Most importantly learn from the mistakes of others so that you will not repeat them.
5. Avoid useless chatter. Use your time wisely. Cultivate a habit of saving. Invest! Avoid going into unreasonable debts.
