Vocational Skills and Certification
Through a robust holistic development approach, we help individuals identify and develop their innate abilities. We develop programs and activities to enhance this process and support youths with educational material to develop their soft skills. The first component of our training program is about understanding the person. Through their background, motivation in life and their interests, we work together to help discover their personal attributes and talents skill bank: The FMD offers training in different building construction vocations. These include Masonry, Tiling, Plumbing, Electrical work, Metal/Iron works (Welding), Carpentry, Glass installations and Landscaping.
Entrepreneurship Training
Successful businesses are grounded on entrepreneurial skills. In additional to the vocation, the FMD develops, in consultation with experts, the requisite entrepreneur manuals. Training helps artisans to understand industry standards, project planning, equipment and labour costing, milestones etc, including developing and defending a business plan to attract loans or support from financial institutions.
Registration of Artisans
In collaboration with industry partners, the FMD develops training pathways leading to certification for practice. Successful trainees are thereby able to take up jobs in their various vocations and execute to building construction industry standards.
Business to Business Linkage
The FMD works with professionals in the building and construction industry; such as Architects, Quantity surveyors, Civil Engineers, Builders, Tilers, Landscapers etc. Our network is used to enhance the practical skills of our trainees through internship and mentorship.
Skill Outsourcing for the Construction Industry
FMD provides skilled manpower and services to the building/construction industry. There is a huge need for skilled manpower in the building construction industry in Nigeria and globally. The FMD works with construction companies to identify the areas in which needs are most critical. This knowledge enables FMD to develop rapid skill building training programs to mitigate the gaps by providing skilled manpower to the industry. In addition the FMD, is able to organize refresher and CPD training for staff members of the companies in areas of new emerging technologies and tools.
Access to Financial Services
In order to support skilled talents and entrepreneurs, the FMD identifies financial institutions including; development partners, angel investors, venture capitalists who are willing to provide grants, soft or no-collateral loans or equity based investments to viable business ventures. The FMD board comprises of professions in the building/construction industry and development experts with requisite experience.
Sale & Servicing of High Quality Equipment & Machine Tools
Artisans need to regularly update their knowledge and skills in the use of new innovative tools to constantly deliver good quality services to the building industry. The FMD has acquired a collection of training manuals, training kits and demos to facilitate easy learning of new skills. Training manuals are also available for equipment handling and maintenance. The FMD provides demonstration workshop where trainees directly acquire hands-on skills. In addition, FMD acquires good quality tools which trainees pay for under mutually agreed terms.
Competence Awards in Collaboration with Industry Partners
The FMD develops program to address the negative image of artisans through various opportunities showcasing their skills such as technology fairs, webinars and live demos, to professionals in the industries.
